As a graduate of an elite high school and college (Trinity School in Manhattan and the University of Pennsylvania), I have noticed how many of my peers come from similarly privileged backgrounds. Graduates of top programs churn out tomorrow’s leaders, whose children then go on to top schools to become leaders, and the cycle perpetuates.

We need to figure out a better way to incorporate the lost human talent of low-income students. A good place to start may be by looking at the issue of skyrocketing student loan debt.
